Privacy Policy
Last updated 4 August 2026.
This is my personal website. I am Sekou Tyler, based in Nashville, Tennessee. This page explains what happens to your information when you visit, and it reflects how the site is actually built rather than a generic template.
What is collected automatically
This site uses Google Analytics 4 to understand how many people visit and which pages they read. It sets cookies in your browser and records things like the pages you view, roughly where in the world you are, your device and browser type, how long you stay, and which site referred you. Google processes this data and their privacy terms apply. I see it only as aggregate reports, never as anything that identifies you personally.
My web host keeps standard server logs, which include IP addresses, as part of running and securing the site. Jetpack, a plugin from Automattic, also records basic visit statistics.
What you choose to give me
If you use the contact form, you provide your name, email address, a subject, and a message. That gets emailed directly to me and I use it only to reply to you. The form does not store submissions in a database on this site.
If you subscribe to my newsletter through the form embedded on this site, that form belongs to Substack. Your email address goes to Substack, not to me directly, and Substack privacy terms govern it. You can unsubscribe from any email they send.
Third parties on these pages
Some content here is loaded from other companies, and they may see that your browser requested something from them:
- Google, for analytics and for the podcast thumbnails loaded from YouTube
- Substack, for the newsletter signup form
- Automattic, for Jetpack statistics and Akismet spam filtering
Each of these operates under its own privacy policy, which I do not control.
How long things are kept
Analytics data follows Google retention settings. Emails you send me stay in my inbox until I clear them out. Server logs rotate on my host normal schedule.
What I do not do
I do not sell your information. I do not share it with advertisers. I do not run ads on this site. I do not build profiles on visitors or attempt to identify individual readers.
Your choices
You can block cookies in your browser settings, or install the Google opt-out browser add-on, and the site will still work. Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask what information I hold about you, request a copy, ask me to correct or delete it, or object to how it is used.
To make any of those requests, or to ask anything about this page, use the contact form.
Changes
If I change how this site handles information, I will update this page and the date at the top.
